Urban planner / Strategic Designer

As an Urban Planner / Strategic Designer, you provide direction to complex spatial projects at the intersection of urban planning, strategy, and design. You develop strategic visions, contribute to urban planning schemes, and monitor the substantive direction of projects, from quick scan to master plan. In doing so, you move smoothly between different scale levels, from building to area.

You work closely with designers, researchers, and clients. You are the substantive point of contact, lead the process, and ensure that projects run smoothly.

Because we work with a compact and close-knit team, the variety of projects is extensive. This requires someone who can switch between roles and scale levels: from strategic thinking to hands-on design, from master plan to quick scan. Not everything is set in stone yet; this gives you the opportunity to pioneer and set the course for the coming years together.

Your role

In this role, you combine strategic thinking with substantive design skills and project leadership. You:

• Coordinate and manage projects in the areas of strategic spatial design, master planning, structural visions, and real estate strategies.
• Conduct research into the feasibility of urban developments or projects.
• Develop strategic spatial visions and translate these into concrete design proposals.
• Are involved in the research phase of projects from MoederscheimMoonen, sometimes zooming in on the building level to complete the spatial concept and structural designs.
• Serve as a point of contact for clients and stakeholders and represent Scope externally.
• Actively contribute to the further positioning and proposition of Scope within the spatial sector.

What you offer

• A completed education in urban planning or architecture (with strong urban planning experience).
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience at an urban planning firm, consultancy, municipality, or developer.
• Experience with strategic and urban design, master planning, and design research.
• Ability to think strategically while simultaneously working hands-on.
• Project management skills.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, and fluent Dutch.
• Experience with drafting software and Adobe Suite is a plus.
